Understanding Computer Memory
Computer memory is an essential component of any computing device, responsible for storing data and instructions required for processing. It acts as the brain’s short-term and long-term memory, allowing the computer to perform tasks smoothly and efficiently. Without adequate memory, a computer would struggle to manage multiple applications or execute commands quickly.
Types of Computer Memory
Computer memory is broadly categorized into primary memory and secondary memory. Primary memory, often referred to as main memory, includes RAM (Random Access Memory) and ROM (Read Only Memory). RAM is volatile and temporarily stores data that is actively in use, while ROM retains essential system instructions even when the power is turned off.
